The Miracle of the Eucharist & the Rosary

27 years ago, I was taught about our Lord's presence in the Eucharist in a most supernatural way in St. James Church, in Medjugorje. I had been a cautious agnostic, but since I had arrived in Medjugorje I kept having visions that would later be fulfilled. One was of my left hand which was empty, but I was unable to close it. On October 6th, I said a prayer to Our Lady to teach me about the Rosary and the Mass, while attending an alleged apparition at Marija's home.

The next morning at Mass, as I stood at the rear of the full church, my torso was gently turned to the left. At first, I thought, ‘Is this me?’ and righted my posture. It started again, gently turning me to my left, so after already experiencing a number of holy events, I decided to trust and go with it. A tiny beam of light just above the reader's area caught my eye and slowly moved back along the stained glass windows to the Rosary one.

The light started at the top of the beads moving down the rosary’s, at times it would move back up to signify our struggles in life and prayer. Then it came to the red stone and throbbed like a heartbeat. It felt like Our Lady’s heart throbbing out of love for us, whilst the congregation was singing.

As the Mass continued, the light beam moved my attention back across to the MIR window, piercing a point on the mountain between Apparition Hill and Mt. Krizevac, where two nights earlier, I had an encounter with our Lord that led to my conversion.

This encounter led me to confession which is important to mention here, as I don’t believe the graces to follow would have happened had I not been. At the time of the consecration at the Mass as the priest held up the host , the light beam brought my focus to the altar. I saw tiny golden and orange droplets falling down through the ceiling onto the altar (like the dew fall). This is how I came to understand that “heaven comes down on the altar at every mass.”

My gaze and the light beam returned to the Rosary window, now ascending up the beads like our prayers to heaven eventually stopping and illuminating the crucifix. It sparkling gold. All of this happened simultaneously as people began receiving communion. I knew this not because I could see them but I felt it… As every person received communion, I had this unbelievable wave of joy that started at my mouth and radiated down my body to my feet. Hundreds of times, the church was packed, and I had tears of happiness pouring down my face and a fixed smile like that of a groom on his wedding day! This is how I learned about the true presence of our Lord in the Eucharist, but even more about the joy He feels when we present ourselves to receive Him.

At the end of Mass, I headed across the road to wait for my Catholic girlfriend Angie. As she approached, I said, “Oh, I have something to share with you.” She replied, “Oh, I have something to share with you!” I said, ‘You go first!’

She said, ‘Hold out your hand,’ which I did—my left one. She placed a gift in it, which a priest had asked her after Mass to give to me. It was a pair of Rosary beads. I said, ‘You’ve got no idea what you’ve just done!’ This fulfilled the vision I had the night before of my left hand, and the reason I couldn’t close it was revealed as the Rosary beads were now in it. The Mass celebrated was The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, October 7th, 1997.

So not only was my prayer answered, but I was also given a pair of Rosary beads to ensure I was equipped to pray it.
